What is a Benefit Corporation?
Benefit Corporations are companies that go beyond simply pursuing profit, operating in a “responsible, sustainable, and transparent manner toward people, communities, territories, the environment, and other stakeholders.” This means that, to be recognized as a Benefit Corporation, a company must set specific goals and achieve them—so-called “benefit objectives” or “purposes of common benefit.”
As part of the LarioHotels Group, in 2021 we were officially recognized as a Benefit Corporation, formalizing a philosophy that has always guided us: doing business responsibly.
Alongside our economic objectives, we have incorporated into our bylaws a commitment to generating a positive impact on people, communities, and the environment.
Our purposes of common benefit
- Promote work as a source of social recognition, dignity, and personal fulfillment.
- Generate a positive impact on the local community and support the culture and preservation of the beauty of artistic and cultural sites.
- Encourage tourism that develops in balance with and respect for the environment.
Benefit Corporations are a flagship of the Italian business landscape.
Italy was the first country in Europe to introduce legislation on Benefit Corporations (2016), and LarioHotels is among the first in the hospitality sector to adopt this model, responding in a concrete and responsible way to the new demands of high-quality hospitality that is increasingly focused on sustainability.
